Proverbs
by David CookWisdom sets out clearly her supreme credentials in her autobiography: she is born or generated of the Lord himself, and she is around before the creation of the world, before the oceans, land, and the heavens were created (Proverbs 8:22-27). She is constantly at God's side, delights in His presence, and rejoices in creation and humankind (vv. 30-31). Who is Wisdom? She is an attribute of God, who is all-wise.
Many believe Proverbs 8:22-36 describes the pre-incarnate Lord Jesus, who never acted apart from wisdom as His constant companion. However, more can be said of Jesus than is said here of Wisdom.
John 1:3 describes Jesus this way: ″Through him all things were made″, and in Colossians 1:15-17, we read that Jesus is the agent of creation and the reason for its being. Though Wisdom was with God at creation, nowhere in Proverbs 8 does she claim to be the Creator.
Throughout my ministry I have been involved in many building projects, I have seen buildings being constructed from plan to completion, and I rejoiced in the progress, but I was not the builder. Creation is a divine accomplishment. God acts with wisdom, and He is the Creator who creates through and for His Son (Colossians 1:16).
God the Father is guided by wisdom. God the Son embodies wisdom; all He does, especially at the cross, is truly wise. God the Spirit makes that same wisdom available to us.
God does all things with wisdom, and so should we! Amazingly, those who seek Wisdom will find her and be blessed (Proverbs 8: 32-36). She is available to all, not just for the elites. However, to qualify for such an exalted companion, we must listen to her and her instruction (vv. 32-34). As church reformer Martin Luther once put it: ″Ears are the only organs of the Christian.″1 Romans 10:17 also reminds us that ″faith comes from hearing the message″.
Will you seek Wisdom, ″watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway″ (Proverbs 8:34)? The best way to begin the day is to prayerfully read God's Word, hear from Him, and then join the kings, rulers, princes and nobles (vv. 15-16) who are guided by Wisdom, and blessed by her.

The key to blessing is to listen to Lady Wisdom's voice-that is, God's wisdom. Where do you think this wisdom can be found? How can we take Wisdom's invitation seriously?
How can we apply God's wisdom to our daily life and routine?
